Edie's is a shoe boutique. They sell lines that
no one else does and you can rest assured that anything you
buy there is top quality. One of the great things about this
place is that the selection of men's shoes is more fun and
interesting than at your average store. For those guys who are
constantly frustrated by the lack of fun shoes, this is the
place. That sprint being said, as a boutique, Edie's regular
prices are quite steep because many of the brands are
European, well made, and leather. The sale prices, however,
are often very affordable and it's worth checking back often.
Yards from the paths of Greenlake lies Super Jock n Jill, the
mecca for runner's in Seattle. This is the place to buy
footwear, and they are famous for having salespeople who will
watch you run around the block california, see how you stride
pronate etc and then match you up with the right shoes. They
don't carry much for non-runners, so don't bother otherwise.
And then you can just lace up and run the lake. A good place
to go if you love having sales people drool all over you. They
carry the best.
The Seattle Company holds a large selection of
quality shoes, gear that I've been unable to find elsewhere
and a staff with a gaint cache of expertise find some of the
top ultra runners here and great hospitality skills. The
treadmill for gait observation gave me extra confidence in
their shoe selection, and each time I've gone in the last few
years with feedback on my last shoe's performance, they've
been able to find an improved shoe for me when the last one
was near perfect anyway. I haven't joined any of the groups,
but the Seattle Company has a few available. They also offer
personal training services. As an added commitment to the
running world, the company hosts a race series that helps even
the novice ramp up his skills pretty quickly. I'm not an
obsessive shoe hoarder but shopping in this cute store just
off Greenlake chocolate near Duke's could force me to make
room in my closet for a few more pairs. They have sales that
wipe away any resistance to spending money chocolate shoes and
the selections are decent. Take a break from hiking around
Greenlake and buy a pair of not-so-sensible shoes. |
